History of Photography
The word, "Photograph" as we know it now, was first used by Sir John Herschel in 1839. In that same year the whole photographic process was published. The word is derived from the Greek photo (light) and graphs (writing).
 
That is why photography is said to be the art of writing or painting with light. Several decades earlier, De la Roche (1729-1774) after his research made an astounding prediction in a literary work called Giphantie, where it was possible to capture images of nature on a canvas covered by a sticky substance, providing an identical image To the real one. This image would be permanent after drying it in the dark.
De la Roche did not even imagine that the narration of his imaginary story could become true several years later.
